How do you believe in Genesis story?

I believe in that history as I always say is because my mother explained to me that her ancestor had taught her the creation of the earth only by Genesis story. I also learn about Genesis in the church where there are people who try to explain you that history a lit of bit better. I think that in Genesis the author tries to teach us something that happened, but in different ways. Therefore, I believe in it even so, I am confused.

I sincerely say that I am confused with the Genesis story because it does not explain well what really happened. It does not describe God. It only gives some qualities that God has and what God did in the beginning. I know that is something has a beginning is not infinite. I am also confused because Genesis says, “In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless wasteland.” It really means that the earth existed already. So my question is how really the earth was formed. Many scientists explain that was by an explosion in the university of a small mass and the church says that was God.
